Curious Listener - 8 Songs from 2023 you should listen
Listen to Jordan Ward, Q, TIF and others artists that marked 2023
Hey everyone,
For the first edition of the year, I wanted to share with you some of my favourite songs released in 2023 that you might not know (yet).
I didn’t listen to all of the 184 million songs available on streaming platforms, but I still spend hours listening to songs released every week and I compiled the ones you should listen.
🥇 Top 8 Songs of 2023

“FAMJAM4000” - Jordan Ward
The former dancer Jordan Ward gained a lot of attention this year with his debut album FORWARD. He recently performed in the famous NPR Tiny Desks Concerts. Check out his last album and I’ll leave you with his Tiny Desk concert, which is a great way to start the weekend.
“Say Something” - Lil Yachty
Lil Yachty’s album Let’s Start Here was one of the best surprises from last year. I already shared this album with you in a previous newsletter, but he completely switched his style for that one. The production is great, the overall artistic direction is amazing and I loved the video below:
“Let Me Go” - Daniel Ceasar
The Toronto singer came back this year with his third album, Never Enough. Give a listen to Let Me Go, captured in that simple video right here:
Q’s track, is inspired by Tyler the Creator’s I THINK, with its fantastic drum rhythms. Injecting his 80s retro style, Q works his magic making his album Soul, PRESENT one of the nice surprises of 2023.
TIF is an Algerian artist based in France who released his first album 1.6 in 2023. The album gained attention throughout the year and he recently released a live version of some of the songs from the album.
The camaraderie of TIF and his friends is palpable, creating a timeless musical experience. In that live video, he performs my favourite song from the album: Demain C’est Bi3d.
Joey Badass took a cool move in this song by using a catchy part from Men I Trust's music. It's like he added the perfect touch to the indie-pop flavor from Men I Trust. Pretty cool mix!
“Là où on dort heureux” - Tuerie
Tuerie is a French rapper, signed to Luidji’s label. In 2023, he released his second album with the label, Papillon Monarque. One standout track in the album, with its beautiful lyrics, quickly became one of my favourites this year.
“Amar y Perder - COLORS” - Danny Lux
The last song from that list is coming from the young Mexican artist Danny Lux. This track, which he performed on Colors, enriched with a gentle guitar melody and tender romantic lyrics, is a perfect blend for an emotional song to close this list.

I hope you discovered some nice songs 😉
It’s always difficult to make a very short list and if you want to discover more music, have a listen to the updated playlist with my favourite tracks released in the last few months.
See you next time!
